Bunker Brew Co ™ is a beer blog representing some of my home brew beer making efforts and quite a few commercial beer reviews. Based in the sleepy area of Thorpe Hesley in Rotherham, England. I have been brewing ale/beer since 2004, initially on an extract brew kit basis, using a brew bucket and basic equipment. After perfecting the art of ‘adding hot water to malt extract syrup followed by yeast’ with semi acceptable results, the resulting end beer was never anything like my favourite local beers. The results were often syrupy beer hybrids with little hop presence or body.
Now that I’ve been brewing a few years on an all grain system, I thought it would be fun to share some of my beer experiments. I’ve brewed quite a few commissions for friends and I never sell any beers that I make, nor do I ever plan to do so. I do share around 80% of my beers with friends and family and am always up for a local home brew beer swap, should the opportunity present itself. (wink wink)
The brewing process has also quickly evolved to pretty much stainless steel EVERYTHING with glass substitutes where necessary. Plastic containers are now consigned to weighing out grain, storing the hops for the deployment, and the most intensive part of the brew process: washing up! I’m a firm believer that plastic & beer are a poor combination and a very bad idea. I always see brewing as a constant learning and experimentation process, and I am now approaching a stage where I prefer my own creations as preference to many commercial beers.
