Adnams – Jack Brand Innovation IPA – 6.7%
From Adnams comes Jack Brand Innovation IPA at 6.7%. The appearance is a dark amber colour with virtually no head or retention De-capping gives an aroma of just a scent of citrus and fruit. This is backed up by a sweet grainy malty backbone. Mouth feel was initially quite watery and then develops a bit more into the acceptable realm as the beer settles. Carbonation is slightly gassy and the overall taste is sweet, with just a hint of bitterness (not acceptable to IPA standards). The aftertaste develops into dryness and a whisper of spice suggestion. The beer aroma develops a hint in the glass as it warms. This reminds me a bit like a dry hopped lager, without the dry hopping and all the lagering. Not that memorable an IPA.
