Brewdog – Prototype Hopped Up Brown Ale – 6.3%
From Brewdog comes a prototype Hopped Up Brown Ale at 6.3% Like a mish-mash hybrid cocktail beer. De-capping gives a good burnt citra hop aromatic, a bit like a black IPA. The aftertaste is malty and roasted like a good stout. Mouth feel is really good, and oddly resinous for such a dark beer. A strong bitterness is dominant that merges well with the style of beer. Head retention is poor, leaving a thin film. Carbonation is moderate and scientifically consistent as with the majority of Brewdog beers. I like odd beers and this is a really odd beer. A Brown IPA? not bad at all.
