From the oddly named My Generation Beer Co. In Masham, Yorkshire comes a Session Pale Ale at 4.7%. Opening gives a fruity musky minty aroma, moderately grassy. The pour on this beer is deep and golden and contrary to what you would expect from the appearance this is REALLY BITTER. We are talking bitterness that melts your palate after every taste. This is bitter, minty bitter goodness (if I hadn’t made myself clear!). The beer features Cascade, Galena, Polaris and Magnum hops. Apart from the bitterness, its a malt forward beer that isn’t particularly memorable or moresome. I’m pretty surprised that these brewers have made such a bold and unique statement with these bittering hops. From personal experience Polaris hops have an Alpha acid content of between 18-23% which is pretty much off the scale in terms of bitterness on a long boil. Clever? or a bit daft? I’m not sure.
