Sierra Nevada – Celebration Fresh Hop IPA – 6.8%
Ok, not so fresh an IPA as it’s a 2014 edition with a BB 08/10/15. I’m a big fan of the Sierra Nevada Brewery, so I was really looking forward to this one. De-capping gives a lovely aromatic malty mix of pine and grapefruit, which is utterly superb! The body of the beer is moderately carbonated with a pleasing amber/orange appearance. The beer has a lovely aftertaste of mango and grapefruit citrus merged with flavours of winter spice and crystal malt, which just oozes bags of depth and flavour. It is a little bitter sweet on the aftertaste, but this adds to the quality of this great IPA. I did leave it a bit long before opening, but despite it’s age, this is a great aromatic IPA. I’m not sure that it has lost any of it’s original character or hop aroma.
