Tower Brewery – Elizabeth IPA – 4.5%
From the Tower Brewery in Burton-upon-Trent comes Elizabeth IPA at 4.5%A mild hint of generic sweet aroma on decapping, no hop aroma present at all. Fairly carbonated and golden in appearance on the pour. Head disappears instantly. Taste is sweet with a good mouth feel, let down by a cloying coating of the mouth. The hop bitterness is present but uninteresting and generic. The disturbing aftertaste is slightly metallic with hints of what i can only describe as cleaning fluid. I double checked the sample straight from the bottle to confirm that it wasn’t my glassware just like a beer that has just been poured by carefree bar staff after a pipe clean. As the beer warms, all the bad points get progressively worse. Not a pale ale, not an IPA just plain terrible.
